Episode 75 - The Legend of Korra S. 3 and 4

It's time to put our Avatar miniseries to rest as we tackle seasons three and four of The Legend of Korra. What's up with gender roles? Why are we so het up about modernity? Where does the show succeed, and where does it fail?

To get right to the Korra talk, skip to 00:17:30.

Mistakes: Our audio got slightly out of sync and is sadly unfixable. The result is that it sounds like we're recording in a cave. You can, if you like, imagine us podcasting from an isolated cavern.

Episode 74 - The Legend of Korra S. 1 and 2

Missy and Merri are back with episode 74, and we're talking about seasons one and two of The Legend of Korra! What's up with pro bending? Is the Avatar inherently good? Does Amon have a point? Find out our thoughts within!

Mistakes: During our conversation about non-benders, benders, and privilege and power, we mistakenly say that Asami is the only prominent non-bender. We forgot about Bumi! Oops.

To get right to the Korra talk, skip to 00:27:00.

Episode 23 - Mary Sues

We’re back with episode 23, and this time we’re talking about Mary Sues! Just what is a Mary Sue? Should we live in fear of the author insert? Do tropes have to be a bad thing? We’re chatting with our friend Stephani about this and many other things, including Ganondorf, why the Qunari are always evil, and our Hermione Granger feelings.

Mistakes: as always, Missy runs her mouth without looking things up in an effort to not distract from the conversation. The quote about all plots being ‘a person goes on a journey or a stranger comes to town' can be found here. The Margaret Atwood quote she was thinking about was actually this sweet one about all stories being about wolves.

Also, hey! We launched a Patreon! If you like what we do and what to support us financially, you can do so by subscribing to our podcast over there and getting sweet rewards, like merchandise, bonus episodes, access to a livestream, and the ability to make us do an episode on a topic of your choosing. Check it out, and thank you, as always, for being the absolute greatest.
