WWBUT 4 - Six Hours of Law and Order SVU

Hope you wanted a 20-minute summary of Hereditary, because WE'VE GOT IT. What were we up to during the great PNW Snowmaggeddon? A lot, actually.

Warnings: Merri makes an inappropriate reference to Nightwing. Mentions of masturbation in "You." Major spoilers for the entire movie Hereditary.

Mistakes: Missy makes a mistake about one of the plot details of Hereditary. It's not lighter fluid. Also, there was a discussion of the transphobic jokes in Miss Congeniality but the discussion lacked both context and depth, so it was trimmed. If we end up doing an episode on the movie, we’ll tackle it with the depth it deserves.

Episode 74 - The Legend of Korra S. 1 and 2

Missy and Merri are back with episode 74, and we're talking about seasons one and two of The Legend of Korra! What's up with pro bending? Is the Avatar inherently good? Does Amon have a point? Find out our thoughts within!

Mistakes: During our conversation about non-benders, benders, and privilege and power, we mistakenly say that Asami is the only prominent non-bender. We forgot about Bumi! Oops.

Bonus Episode: Life is Strange

We’re back with a special bonus episode on Life is Strange! You’ve probably heard us talk about it before, but with the release of episode five and a veritable ocean of tears, we thought we should revisit the game with our final thoughts, a discussion of the game’s tropes and themes, and whether we recommend it to others.

Warning: contains spoilers for all episodes of the game as well as some discussion of potentially triggering themes.

Episode 22 - Magical Realism and Life is Strange

Merri and Missy are back with episode 22, on magical realism, heightened realities, and Life is Strange. As much as we yammer on about how this whole thing is a thinly veiled excuse to talk about Life is Strange, we also do discuss the perils of genre, what genre tells us (and what it doesn’t), and how genre lets us look at things from a new perspective. Also: SPOILERS. And for some reason Missy says noir comes before the 1920s. She meant that it comes after. She regrets this grievous mistake and the challenge it poses to her noir cred.
