WWBUT #6 - Emerald City Comic Con + Interviews

We were lucky enough to spend a great weekend at this year's Emerald City Comic Con! Find out what we've been up to, what panels we visited, what The Wicked + The Divine party was like, and also hear some half-baked theorizing about why Cruel Intentions is the way it is.

We were lucky enough to chat with Andrea Fort and Michael Christopher Heron, the writing team behind Songs for the Dead, and Anne Camlin and Becca Farrow of Rock Candy Games, the team behind the upcoming Seventh Circle! Everyone we spoke with was delightful, please take some time to check out their work because your life will be immediately better. Our interview with Andrea and Michael begins at around 1:09:00 and our interview with Anne and Becca begins at around 1:31:30!

Warning: We cussed, our guests cussed, it's a cussing extravaganza around here.

Bonus Episode: Interview with Sarah Smith

We sat down to talk with Sarah Smith, a progressive candidate for Congress in Washington's 9th District. It might seem strange to have a political candidate on Fake Geek Girls, but when the opportunity to speak to a self-described gamer who's also out there doing the hard work of changing our country's future appears, you take it.

You can learn more about Sarah on her website, votesarahsmith.com, which also includes links to donate and volunteer. Consider supporting a progressive candidate in your area by checking out this list as well as ongoing efforts by organizations like Swing Left or Sister District.

Episode 96 - PAX West

Episode 31 - Sex in the Geek Community with Liz Andrade & Hana Butler

We’re back with episode 31, discussing sex in the geek community with our friends Liz Andrade and Hana Butler! We chatted about vampire romance fiction, creating a more inclusive community, and the importance of ongoing discussions about sex and other topics in the geek sphere.

As a head’s up, we ran into some unfortunate audio issues on this episode due to new equipment, new programs, and Skype. We apologize for the low-quality recording and hope you listen anyway—Liz and Hana had wonderful, informative things to say and their contributions are one-hundred percent worthwhile.

Warning: Due to the nature of this episode, it is rated explicit.

Mistakes: The reason Missy couldn’t find the article she was looking for was because it was by Sarah Nyberg, not Zoe Quinn, and it is actually titled, “I Was a Teenage Edgelord.” Linked below, with trigger warnings.

Warning: This episode is explicit! Lots of cusses.

    • Allegra meant that Iron Bull is pansexual, not bisexual.
    • We all misunderstood the handmaiden/feudal lord meme. You can find screenshot of the original post here. It’s still pretty silly, though.
    • When talking about the popularity of pop musicals, Allegra meant that we’re seeing more of them, not fewer.
